McEwen, was once a station on the Sumpter Valley Railroad.

Now and then a masquerade ball was held at McEwen's Dance Hall.
Everyone, both rich and poor, attended, while the orchestra poured out the gay tunes of the day.

A few old buildings still stand near a modern store and church.
